Waldorf Inspired Seasonal Craft – Spring Butterfly Wands

Ok lovely mamas….here is a little spring crafting to start the season.
Seasonal crafts are a beautiful way to celebrating the season and to bring the season into our home. This little butterfly wand would be beautiful on your seasonal nature table or used as a little prop when storytelling or
They would also make a beautiful parent craft activity for a parent/ child playgroup or at a crafting circle or even a gorgeous addition to the birthday table! (You can read more about creating meaningful birthday rituals + rhythms here)
I’m imagining a beautiful big vase of them with lots of cherry blossom stems flying in the breeze at a spring fair or spring festival to be handed out to the children…..so much magic!!!
Materials you will need:
Wool felt scraps
Embroidery thread/ floss
A foraged stick from mother nature
some ribbons of your choice….I love to use silk ribbons
optional – cotton thread or waxed cotton to make the antennas – the thin kind you use for a sewing machine.
+ Sewing basics – needle, pins + scissors
Instructions…
I’ve created a video tutorial below to walk you through the steps to making one of these sweet little butterfly wands.
If you are new to creative making, I’m planning on sharing a simple sewing series with my favourite materials, stitches and other tips and techniques to get you started making beautiful handmade things for your children. Leave me a comment if there is anything in particular you’d love to learn or know more about.
I really hope you enjoy and please leave a comment and let me know if you make one or if you have any questions.

Hi I’m Natalie,
I hope to spark your creativity, and inspire you to bring beauty & magic into childhood.
When I'm not creating new projects for our Sewing Circle community or making another Waldorf doll, I love to help other women get their creative dreams out into the world. You can learn more about my mentoring here.
That was a lovely tutorial Natalie and such a sweet wand to make for a little one. xx
Thanks so much for your comments and kind words Catherine. x
